c8A class action has just been filed by the American Civil Liberties Union against President Donald Trump and his administration followin the detention of immgrant teenagers associated with gang activity.
The lawsuit which was announced this Friday holds the Department of Health, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Human Services’ Office of Refugee and Resettlement as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions as targets.
The abovementioned targets had been accused by the American Civil Liberties Union of detaining child immigrants and sending them to facilities without informing their lawyers or parents.
According to allegations by the organization, ICE had been deporting the children “under the guise of a ‘crackdown’ on transnational street gangs” and accuses the federal agency of making arrests based on “unreliable claims of gang affiliation and flawed reports of criminal history.”
The statement released by the attorney with the ACLU Imigrants’ Rights Project, Stephen Kang, went on to specify which children were the targets of this action, “We’re talking about teens who were picked up for play-fighting with a friend, or for showing pride in their home country of El Salvador,” adding, “The Office of Refugee Resettlement is accepting wholesale that young immigrants should be kept behind bars because of what they look like or where they come from.”
The head of this outrageous class action against the Trump administration are from Suffolk County, Long Island, where just last month Trump held a speech in which he vowed to crack down on the MS-13 gang.
